Our History

Started in 1965.Still building.

Dale and Harold Stevens started a construction company in 1965 and set the standards it would be run by. Six decades, one acquisition and two offices later, those standards are the part that never changed. Here is the whole line.

A Great Foundation

Dale and Harold Stevens started Stevens Construction in 1965. They were craftsmen, but what they really set was a standard: do the work properly, and keep the client. Everything on this page grew out of that, including the company that carries the name now.

Commercial and government work

Initial Growth

The company moved into commercial and government work, which meant bigger jobs, tighter specifications and a client who reads every line of them. It was the decision that set the direction, and the range of work Coast still takes on starts here.

The office they built for themselves

A building of their own

Building A Legacy

Stevens Construction finished its own office. A contractor's own building is the one job every client gets to inspect on the way in, and that one is still standing and still in use.

A New Leader

Dale became ill and Harold stepped into the lead. He carried the critical work through the transition, including the commissary at Edwards Air Force Base, and the company came out of that decade steadier than it went in.

Trevor Gaskin

Early Years

Trevor Gaskin started young with his father's company and learned the trade from dirt work up through finish carpentry, doing the heavy lifting on the way. Then his path crossed Stevens Construction, which is where the rest of this page comes from.

Lifelong Partnerships

Trevor Gaskin married Angela Stevens, and the two families became one. He was working for himself through this stretch and running several jobs at once, which is the kind of coordination that later became the company's habit rather than its exception.

Growing Versatility

Working alongside Stevens Construction put Trevor on a much wider range of full-service commercial and industrial jobs. More trades, more building types, and the start of a preference for keeping the hard parts on his own crews.

Real Growth

Trevor Gaskin founded Coast Construction Group after moving from California to north of Seattle. He brought a full-service way of working, design through finish under one contract, to a market that did not have much of it.

A Historic Symbol

Coast bought and renovated a historic building in downtown Arlington rather than leasing a suite somewhere off the highway. Preserving it put the company inside the community it serves, and it is still the headquarters.

Logistics, and a Butler Builder

Expanding Forward

Coast branched into logistics construction, then joined Butler Manufacturing's network as a Butler Builder. That put a pre-engineered building system behind the company's own crews, which is the pairing most of the terminal work since has been built on.

An Important Union

Coast Construction Group acquired Stevens Construction. Sixty years after Dale and Harold started it, the two halves of the same story are one company with two offices, one in Arlington, Washington and one in Lancaster, California.

Coast Today

What all of it adds up to

Coast Construction Group builds commercial, industrial and logistics work nationwide. Sixty years of it sits behind the crew that turns up on your job, and the standard Dale and Harold set in 1965 is still the one being measured against.

Built For Life is not a tagline about buildings. It is how we approach every idea, every job and every person on it. Your project is not just a line in our schedule, it is part of the landscape of a community, and it has to still be right in forty years.
