Coast Construction Group is building R+L Carriers a new freight terminal on a 61-acre site in Sparks, Nevada — a design-build project blasted into the mountainside, with more than 429,000 cubic yards of bedrock and earth moved to date. The complex centers on a 117,080-square-foot cross-dock terminal with 163 dock doors and a 7,500-square-foot office, built to move high volumes of Less Than Truckload (LTL) freight through northern Nevada.
Its defining feature is a dual-elevation layout — two building pads separated by roughly 58.5 feet of grade and connected by an on-site access road — a creative design-build solution that turned a challenging land formation into a cost-effective plan for the client. Supporting the terminal are a 17,100-square-foot maintenance building, a 5,735-square-foot truck wash, and a three-lane fueling station with on-site diesel, off-road, and DEF storage. As a design-build project, the site continues to evolve as Coast and R+L refine it in real time.
